Today we are going to witness the TNCA Inter Districts for Age group under 25 match played between Namakkal DCA and Pudukkottai DCA on 28.06.2014 in the Periyar University ‘B’ Ground, Salem
The match was delayed due to over night rain and the overs were reduced to 45 overs/side. Pudukkottai DCA won the toss and chose to field first.

Frankly saying, it did not go well for the Pudukkottai DCA. Namakkal looked solid with their opening pair and even after a loss of 1 wicket they managed to score runs.

Namakkal scored 225/9 in the allotted 45 overs with A. Gandhi scoring 86 and G. Vinoth Kumar remained unbeaten with 32. S. Sivakumar picked 5 wickets for 32 runs.

Namakkal bowlers maintained a decent line and length to pressure the batsmen to play shots to score runs.The opening bowlers Karthick and Parthiban maintained a decent line in their first spell.

Pudukkottai DCA could not score freely against the decent bowling unit of Karthick, Parthiban, Vinoth Kumar and Karthikeyan. Captain K. Arun alone lead the chase for Pudukkottai and managed to score half century. Pudukkottai scored 121 in 37.1 overs
Last but not least, as usual, I had umpired with my batchmate Mr. N. Gopinath, Coimbatore.
