Manickam – Living Legend in our neighborhood
I am using SONY Cyber shot Digital camera. Hope you all remember our post – Honesty! I had missed that cam once, 2 years ago and got back with the honesty of an unknown Human being, a Police Constable and a Shop Keeper. I have had several times dropped my camera earlier. But this time, when I was so tired, in the evening after a tight match left the camera dropped (which would had been avoided) at Home. Realized late, that Camera might be under severe damage. My guess was right, the lens was not opening and I lost my mind and heart as well. Things were sliding around the performance and usage of the camera and It was a tough situation to digest that I should not have done like this.
I was unusually calm and indifferent to myself! But I later convinced myself to correct it myself. I bought the Camera for INR 3480 ( I remember that a Duty Paid Shop in Kumaran Road, Tirupur asked for INR 3800+ for that Camera. Thanks to them! I had switched my mind to buy it online. At EBAY.in I was surprised with the price along with the Offers they listed. I finally bought it for INR 3480 with FREEBIES: 2 Rechargeable batteries, A charger for recharging them and a TRIPOD {It’s funny that I do not know the exact use of TRIPOD and how to use it till now}). As I decided to see it of my own (Being over confident about my DEEE and with the help of YouTube video assistance) way, with my micro tools kid which I bought for opening Mobile Phones (Just for opening and fixing!?), I tried to service and as usual you can guess simply! Yes! No improvement! As there is no other way I’ve approached the authorized service center and they quoted for around INR 2800 for spare and INR 600 for service.
I just put an hold for further actions for more than a month or two. I’ve tried for the same brand over online but shocked to see that there is no listing in all the websites. Hence I tried to service it in Chennai. My friends recommended a Bazaar area for servicing it. I’ve visited that area last week (that too after 3 weeks they had recommended!!). The area was like a new electronic country. It was the first area to see such a big pool of electronics’ market. I have had spent more than an hour in search of shop for servicing my camera.
At Last, I had found a person whom denied to quote at the spot and told that could not service the same immediately. After that I approached a shop nearer to his home. The staff asked for INR 1200 to service it (Initially asked INR 1800 for Spare and INR 300 for Service) But I was not satisfied with the offer and requested for an buy back offer. He offered to pay INR XXX.XX for taking it from me. I refused and left the place.
I have had lost the hope and just decided to return back to room. I walked in the opposite side to round the area full and on completing the 3 faces of the rectangle, I found a shop and asked for whether they can service it (unfaithfully) or not. Initially the owner of the shop quoted an amount for Service and if needed any spares, then will cost more. I explained my stand and offered to pay an amount. He finally asked a middle amount which I agreed to pay even if it works or not.
He opened the Camera in my front and within 10 minutes he found out the error (explained me about the error) and corrected it. He also corrected the error committed by me during my adventure of servicing the camera. He fixed the camera within an hour and I was happy to see My third Eye is working fine. It was a different feeling that arised from an unfaithful moment to unbelievable moment. But it was true. And the proofs are the images of him and his advertisement board.
