Ports, Slots and Buttons
You can find lot of Buttons, Ports and Slots in a Computer Case. Let us have a look at what is there in a Computer Case.
Computer Case – Front
The following are the Buttons, Ports to be used for Peripherals
- Optical Disc Drive with Eject Button
It is often called as “CD-ROM or DVD ROM drive” helps Computer to read CDs and/or DVDs - Power Button
Power Button is used to power the Computer On and Off - Audio In/Audio Out
Most of the Computers support audio port in front of the case which may be used to connect with speakers, microphone and headsets which is similar to Audio ports in the Computer Case back. - Universal Serial Bus (USB) Port
Most Desktop Computers have several USB Ports. Most Peripherals like Mice, Keyboard, Pen Drive, Printers and Digital Cameras may be connected to the Computer with this port.
Computer Case – Back
The following are the buttons, ports that are useful for connecting Computers with peripherals
- Power Socket
For connecting Power chord to the computer - Audio In/Audio Out
Most of the Computers support audio port which may be used to connect with speakers, microphone and headsets - Ethernet Port
It looks like a Modem or Telephone Port which is slightly wider than them, used for networking and connecting to the internet - Universal Serial Bus (USB) Port
Most Desktop Computers have several USB Ports. Most Peripherals like Mice, Keyboard, Pen Drive, Printers and Digital Cameras may be connected to the Computer with this port. - Monitor Port
This port is used for connecting Monitor with the Computer. Normally Display Port and VGA Ports are available in all cases. Whereas in advanced systems, DVI Ports (Digital Visual Interface) or HDMI Ports (High Definition Multimedia Interface) are available - Serial/Parallel Port
These ports are normally used for connecting peripherals like digital camera, printers etc., to the Computer which has been replaced with USB Ports now-a-days - PS/2 Port
These are ports are used to connect mouse and keyboard with the computer. Typically, Green color port is used for Mouse and Purple color port is used for Keyboard - Expansion Slots
These are empty slots provided in a computer case for accommodating future installations/expansions like video card for games
